As most of you who know me know, I love cats. I've had a cat or cats from as far back as I can remember. I have never been picky about the breed or gender as long as the cat loved me. A couple of years ago, my neighbor, Peggy inherited two cats from her daughter when she moved from a house to an apt. Peggy only kept the cat inside for a short time before it was kicked outside. I saw it sometimes, but I had my hands full with three other cats. Just before we moved Peggy got pretty sick and moved to her son's house and the cat started showing up on my door step for food. When we moved to Foresthill, I took the cat with me just because. I named him Chester because he had a "Cheshire" look about him. He is a huge cat, weighing 10 lbs. His feet are so big I can hear him walking across the floor. He loves being outside except when it snows. One day he got sick so I took him to the vets. They asked me for his breed and I had to tell them that I didn't know because he adopted me. Well, to my surprise, they told me he was a Maine Coon. What a wonderful thing to be an owner of a breed known to be the "original" cat that immigrated with the colonists. Chester is such a great cat!! He is very even tempered, loving, and likes to sit on my lap and bumps his face into my face and purrs. He really likes to have his face scratched but, not his feet or belly. This picture I took really shows his benign and loving personality. Chester has to be the kitty I love the best, so far anyway.

We have had two really huge snow storms at our low altitude of 2400 ft. Friday we shoveled the drive way before we took out the ATV's. Today we skipped the work and went right to the playtime. Ben brought over their toboggan and tied up to Keith's ATV and took the girls out. I was on my yellow ATV going through 18-24 inches of wet heavy snow. What a fun time we had!! We have had two great snow days. We also got a call and church is canceled tomorrow so we will get another snow day. The forcast for tomorrow is rain and lots of wind. Hope we don't have any trees fall on our house. This is a fun weekend with Natalie and Julia.

Home teaching
I love to do Home Teaching. We have 5 great families. Keith's companion for Home teaching is our grandson Tanner. We decided to do something different for our home teaching for the month of Feb. Robert Burns' birthday, the poet lauriete of Scotland, is Jan. 25th. Since both Keith and I served in Scotland for our missions and met there over 40 yrs. ago, we have a fond place in our hearts for lots of Scottish things. There are many people in the U.S. that celebrate Robbie Burns birthday. Along with the help of our friends, Cliff and Diana McCollam, we put on our own Burns Supper. We had Haggis, of course, and scotch broth, black current scones, English cheese, black current drink and shortbread. We had lots of bagpipe music, laughter, one dance, and poetry and song. The couple standing by me are the McCollams, Tanner is in front of them and the Edwards' are on the right. As it turned out, only one of our families was able to make the supper, but we had such a good time anyway. I love Scotland and my Scottish ancestry. There is so much to be proud of that comes from Scotland. Many great inventions, deep loyality to family and church; the hymn Praise to the Man is taken from Scotland the Brave. There are great men from Scotland: Robert Lewis Stephensen, Alexander Graham Bell, Pres. McKay, Sean Connery, and my great great great grandfather, Robert Barclay, just to name a few. I am very happy to be half Scottish!! Cheerio the nu. (Bye for now)
North Fork
Someone in North Fork, Ca., the Center of California, is very clever. This cute tepee with bear standing in the doorway was visible from the road. We stopped to look closer and saw the deer that is made from logs and tree branches standing by the door. It was too cute to pass up, I had to have a picture. I'm partial to bears anyway and to have the deer close by was wonderful. The deer reminds me of the christmas gift I recieved from a friend in Wyoming many years ago. He made three deer of different sizes similar to this one only small enough to stand on the hearth of our fireplace. I no longer have these, but now I have a visual reminder. I love this smaller version of Smokey the Bear. His features aren't as percise as some bears here in Foresthill, but he is so cure and loveable anyway.
Center of California
I was excited to be able to visit the town that is designated the center of the state. I don't recall any other state that I've lived in or visited that has a "middle of the state". This small communitee is just below Yosemite and in a beautiful part of Ca. As you can see from the photo there are plenty of green trees and mountains close by. Down here the rain had stopped but the clouds clung to the mountain.
Yosemite Park
We took a day last week to go to Yosemite Park. We haven't been to the southern end of the Park before so this was a real treat. Behind this covered bridge is a great village of log buildings. It was raining on us while we were walking around and then it started to snow. We left because we had quite a high mountian to go over and we were driving our Mustang.
